Can halloween movies improve my english?

Writer: Kendrick Holsman

Knock, Knock, Halloween is here! You can celebrate the spooky season in different ways by picking up a costume to go out, baking Halloween cookies, or, my personal favourite, watching Halloween movies!!

Watching Halloween movies is one of the ways that you can improve your English Skills. Because most Halloween movies have:

◼️an easy-to-follow plot

◼️less dialogue, more scary scenes as well as a lot of fleeing of the characters

◼️the chance to test your listening skills and learn English pronunciation

Here are 5 movies that you could watch this weekend:

1. The conjuring (2013)

It is the first film in the Conjuring franchise, and it narrates the story of two paranormal investigators who come to the Perron family’s rescue. Strange things have been happening since they moved home, such as birds swooping by their window at 3 a.m. or one of the family members waking up bruised. There is undoubtedly an evil present in the house.

2. A nightmare on Elm Street (1985)

A true horro movie classic that you should not be skipping! Imagine every time you close your eyes someone is trying to kill you in your sleep, terrifying right? In this movie, four adolescents attempt to escape the disfigured men in their sleep; will they succeed? To find out, watch the movie!!

3. Annabelle (2014)

The plot of this movie revolves around a vintage doll named Annabelle. The couple receives Annabelle as a gift and decides to include her in their baby’s nursery doll collection. After, a succession of strange events began to occur, such as loud footsteps in the house or hearing women’s voices. It turns out Annabelle is possessed by an evil spirit who wants to take their soul.

4. Halloween (1978)

Halloween is an ongoing franchise that will end in 2022. However, you should start with the first film, in which Michael Myers breaks out of a sanitarium on Halloween to stalk and murder the residents of Haddonfield, Illinois.

5. Child’s play (1988)

If you enjoyed playing with dolls as a kid, you might change your mind after seeing this film. The mother of Andy, Karen, buys a birthday gift for his son: an innocent Buddi doll, which he laters discovers has life of its own.

P.S, you should know that most of these listed movies have prequels or are part of a franchise. Perfect for you if you are a horror fan.

Have fun being scared while practicing your English.
