No criminal record, for which a police check is required.


language skills

Have a minimum grade of 65% in English 12, English Studies 12, First Peoples English 12, ENGL 090, or equivalent courses.

Or, have successfully completed three consecutive years of full-time secondary or postsecondary education taught in English in a country where English is the primary language.

English education from the following countries is acceptable: Canada, United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Tanzania, Ireland, Singapore, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Jamaica and the Philippines.

Alternatively, international students must demonstrate an intermediate level of English through an online test and interview, although they will be exempt if they have a CEFR B1, IELTS 4.5, TOEFL iBT 31 or Cambridge PET (Merit) level.

Students will have progressed in youth programming, critical thinking and decision making, risk management, program planning, promoting inclusion and diversity, basic standard first aid knowledge and professional planning skills. In addition, they will have gained cultural understanding and sensitivity, as well as language, communication and professional presentation skills.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of this program will be eligible for employment opportunities such as:

  • Community Youth Recreation Facilitator: organizes and leads recreational activities for youth in community settings, fostering the participation and well-being of participants.
  • Summer Camp Counselor: Guides and supervises youth campers during summer camps, providing emotional support, leading activities and ensuring their safety.
  • Summer Camp Activities Specialist: Designs and coordinates specific programs and activities within a summer camp, such as sports, arts and crafts or outdoor adventures.
  • Youth Programs Assistant: Collaborates in the planning and execution of youth programs, assisting in the organization of recreational, educational and personal development activities.
  • Youth Programs Coordinator: Oversees and manages programs and services for youth, including the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational, educational and personal development activities.
