SCHEDULE

Depending on the district to which your high school belongs, the length of the school year may vary. HOW DOES THE EDUCATION SYSTEM WORK IN ENGLAND?

In England, primary education lasts 6 years, followed by 5 years of Secondary Education which ends with the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations. Secondary education is divided into two cycles:

FIRST:

From 11 to 14 years old.

SECOND:

From 14 to 16 years old.

In this course, « Year 10 » and « Year 11 », students must choose ten subjects to be examined later. There are many options and it will be up to the student to decide which subjects he/she prefers to take according to his/her tastes and preferences. Among the subjects are: Design and technology, music, languages, history, geography. Mathematics, science and English are compulsory and must be taken anyway.

Compulsory education ends in what we call Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), for them « Year 11 » at the age of 16. From here the students decide whether to continue studying the next 2 years corresponding to baccalaureate, « Year 12 » and « Year 13 », focused on AS Levels and A Levels exams (usually 3 or 4 exams).

These state exams are:

  • AS Level (Advanced Standard Level): At the end of the 1st year of Bachillerato, « Year 12 ».
  • A Levels (Advanced Level): At the end of 2nd year of Bachillerato, « Year 13 ».

The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) is the final exam to be taken in Year 12, where students must take four subjects of their choice. The subjects may vary from school to school. In both Year 12 and Year 13, students have the ALevels subjects, mentioned above, which are distributed between the two courses.

J1 VISA

The au pair program in the USA is approved, monitored and regulated by the United States government; our partner agency in the USA is designated by the U.S. Department of State acting as your sponsor so that you can apply for your J-1 visa (which will allow you to work in this program in the United States) This visa will allow you to be an au pair in the United States. It is not a work visa but a student exchange visa and therefore you will have to take 6 credits in American colleges or universities. For this purpose, the families will give you a scholarship of up to $500. In addition, your visa allows you at the end of your stay, and if you wish, you can extend your stay for another month as a tourist to travel and get to know the United States before returning permanently.

We will activate your online dossier on the platform so that you can fill it out. This application is filled out online, in it you will have to write extensive information about the student since it will be sent to English families interested in hosting foreign students for the next academic year. We will provide you with a guide where you will receive advice and recommendations on how to fill out the application perfectly. The application must include:

  • Academic data (grades for the last three years)
  • Medical data and vaccination record
