The student will have the opportunity to choose where to enjoy their stay in the United States. The country is divided into 5 zones (West, Central, South and East), and you can optionally choose the zone or even the specific state*.
*The selection of zone or state does not totally guarantee the stay in the desired zone, if for any reason it is not possible to find a family in the desired zone, the amount corresponding to the supplement previously paid will be reimbursed.

Schools are also reviewed to ensure that they are an ideal fit for this program and the students interested. We will take into account their reputation, facilities, extracurricular and sports activities, amenities, among others.
All schools are located in residential areas with easy access for all students. Students will have access to leisure activities close to their school. Young people who want to attend this program should know that they must comply with the curriculum determined by the Ministry of Education in England, but they will not receive credits.
DAILY LIFE
The start date depends on the district where the school is located. Classes will begin in mid to late August in the southern United States and in the northern United States in early September. The first term, the shortest, lasts from the beginning until Christmas and the second term from Christmas until mid-May or the end of June.
As we have seen in American films, extracurricular activities play a very fundamental role in the course of the year. The areas that stand out the most are sports (basketball, soccer, swimming, etc.) and art (theater, painting, music and even ceramics). High Schools have clubs with different themes in which students can participate, where they can not only develop extracurricular activities but also make new friends.
HIGH SCHOOLS IN USA
The U.S. educational system works differently. Knowledge is evaluated in a more practical way and through exams of an appropriate level for the student. Practice and know-how are more important than memorization of content. This type of method is usually more effective since it helps the student to know how to put into practice any content, which will facilitate the success of their future work.
SUBJECTS
The student is the one who chooses the subjects they want to take, this will allow them to adapt 100% of their schedule to be able to train as best as possible in their area of interest*. As mentioned above, the classes will be much more practical and there must be participation in order to achieve a good grade and a better academic future.

INCORPORATION
This program is very popular in the United States and they are used to receiving exchange students. They have initiatives to make it easier to integrate into the school and make you feel part of the group. Exchange students are very prestigious and valued, as they have undergone a selection process to get there. The teachers will welcome you and help you during your stay.
SCHEDULE
Depending on the district to which your high school belongs, the length of the school year may vary. Normally it usually lasts 9 and a half months, varying the start and end dates depending on the state you are in. Thus, the school year can start from the end of July to mid-September. If the course starts earlier, it will end around May and if it starts in September, it will end at the end of June.
SPORTS
Sports are highly valued and given a lot of importance. From 2LearnGroup we encourage you to participate in those that you like the most as they will help you integrate into the High School, make new friends and enjoy the many advantages offered by the practice of sports. There are schools that specialize in a particular sport or vary depending on the season or weather. In general, this is the list of the most common sports:

MOTIVATION

If you are an average student, who is good in some subjects but more difficult in others, you will be motivated to make those that are more complicated easier for you, enhancing your qualities.
Practice
We want to have an impact on the quality of teaching since it is much more enjoyable for the students. They learn by doing individual or group work, laboratory activities, debates… Students’ participation and weekly work is taken into account. All these activities will later determine their grade.
TIMETABLE
Classes in the United States usually start at 8:00 am and end around 3:00 pm. What will really make it vary are the subjects, sports or extracurricular activities in which the student is enrolled. Occasionally, these activities may coincide with the student’s schedule, in which case you will need to adjust your schedule accordingly so that you can attend both classes and your extracurricular activities. The advantage is that you will be able to customize your schedule and make it as efficient as possible.

PART OF THE FAMILY
You will be one more of the family, they invite you to be part of the activities they do on weekends. This will be a good opportunity to adapt and get to know their culture first hand, and they are delighted to be able to share this time with you. By being part of their family you will have to comply with the rules established in the house.
If for some unfortunate reason the young person does not fit in with your family, we can always provide you with another option. An example would be an accommodation in a school with a student residence.
HOW DOES THE EDUCATION SYSTEM WORK IN ENGLAND?
In England, primary education lasts 6 years, followed by 5 years of Secondary Education which ends with the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations. Secondary education is divided into two cycles:
FIRST:
From 11 to 14 years old.
SECOND:
From 14 to 16 years old.
In this course, “Year 10” and “Year 11”, students must choose ten subjects to be examined later. There are many options and it will be up to the student to decide which subjects he/she prefers to take according to his/her tastes and preferences. Among the subjects are: Design and technology, music, languages, history, geography. Mathematics, science and English are compulsory and must be taken anyway.
Compulsory education ends in what we call Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), for them “Year 11” at the age of 16. From here the students decide whether to continue studying the next 2 years corresponding to baccalaureate, “Year 12” and “Year 13”, focused on AS Levels and A Levels exams (usually 3 or 4 exams).
These state exams are:
- AS Level (Advanced Standard Level): At the end of the 1st year of Bachillerato, “Year 12”.
- A Levels (Advanced Level): At the end of 2nd year of Bachillerato, “Year 13”.
The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) is the final exam to be taken in Year 12, where students must take four subjects of their choice. The subjects may vary from school to school. In both Year 12 and Year 13, students have the ALevels subjects, mentioned above, which are distributed between the two courses.
J1 VISA
The au pair program in the USA is approved, monitored and regulated by the United States government; our partner agency in the USA is designated by the U.S. Department of State acting as your sponsor so that you can apply for your J-1 visa (which will allow you to work in this program in the United States) This visa will allow you to be an au pair in the United States. It is not a work visa but a student exchange visa and therefore you will have to take 6 credits in American colleges or universities. For this purpose, the families will give you a scholarship of up to $500. In addition, your visa allows you at the end of your stay, and if you wish, you can extend your stay for another month as a tourist to travel and get to know the United States before returning permanently.
HIGH SCHOOL FEES IN CANADA
The fee includes tuition and living with the Canadian host family. Spending could range from CAD $ 23,000 to CAD $ 36,000 per academic year. It all depends on the district and the school in which the student’s academic year will take place. Big cities like Toronto are usually the most expensive and those smaller cities are generally cheaper.

We will activate your online dossier on the platform so that you can fill it out. This application is filled out online, in it you will have to write extensive information about the student since it will be sent to English families interested in hosting foreign students for the next academic year. We will provide you with a guide where you will receive advice and recommendations on how to fill out the application perfectly. The application must include:
- Personal and family details
- Academic data (grades for the last three years)
- Medical data and vaccination record
- Your preferences (sports, hobbies, tastes, habits, etc…)
- Family photos
- Letters of recommendation and personal letters (both yours and your family’s)
- etc.
When the application is already completed following the procedure and the advice provided by our company, we will proceed to check if everything is perfect in order to send it to England. If on the contrary there is something that needs to be rectified, we will ask you to modify the pertinent changes since the application has to be perfectly completed.
After submitting your application to the English organization, you will receive the official acceptance 2 to 4 weeks later. Your start in the program will be official and you will be just a few steps away from enjoying the best year of your life in England. Now it is time to wait to receive the information from your host family, this process can take until August 31st. You have to be patient, as the wait will be worth it.

Your plane will take off for the best academic year of your life. The school calendar may vary depending on the school you are enrolled in. Once we have the information about your new family and your new school, we will know the exact date of the beginning of the school year so that your flight can be arranged. This information may take some time, so we ask for your patience. The accommodation offered in this type of program is in the homes of a previously pre-selected native family. These families have a single room where you can have your privacy and they will offer you the best comforts to make you feel at home.
Yes, probably. The student must attend during this full time period in order to receive the grades for his or her studies. If you want to know more details do not hesitate to contact us.
We recommend applying as early as April to start in September with everything already organized. Some schools are flexible in accepting new students but 2LearnGroup advises you to apply as early as possible so that you can enjoy the experience from the beginning. Add that if you leave it too late, some options will not be available.
The duration of an academic year in England is divided into 3 terms. These are:
- First term: Starts in autumn, from September to mid-December.
- Second term: Starts in spring from January to March/April.
- Third term: It takes place in summer from March/April to July.
An English test must be taken taking into account the level or age of the student and the course he/she wants to enroll in. Short courses are usually less strict but 2LearnGroup recommends an intermediate level in order to fully enjoy the experience. However, for longer courses, some schools will require the student to take certain tests to ensure that he/she has a suitable level to take the course with them. However, some schools offer language reinforcement programs during the school year for those students who arrive with a weaker level and need extra reinforcement.
