The United Kingdom is waiting for you

public universities

Public universities offer great value for money. Many students choose the United Kingdom as a destination for their studies as they offer a wide variety of degrees and a good number of places, in addition to the reputation that many universities have. Universities such as the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the University of Manchester, etc., are public.

Public universities are often more popular than private universities. Thanks to this, a large number of exchange students choose this destination, which creates a multi-ethnic environment that fosters diversity.

Private universities

Private universities, on the other hand, have a higher cost and fewer vacancies. Nonetheless, they make no distinction between residents and non-residents, the price is usually the same. They are universities with no more than 20.000 students. King’s Royale College, Westminster University, etc. are private.

They are self-funding thanks to loans, research prizes, scholarships, and grants of former students. State subsidies are not granted to them, but they usually have more advanced facilities and more personalized attention.

FREE TIME

England is a very diverse country, where you can find interesting sights, objects, events and entertainment. It is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland it is worth mentioning that it is the most populous and largest part of the country.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

We must take into account that you will need to get a student visa if you want to stay the whole school year in the UK. To get it you will be required to present certain documents. Contact us for any further information!

At all times, from the very first minute we have to bear in mind the deadlines we must meet to gain access to a UK university:

15th October is the deadline to present the application form to universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. Being the most demanding, they are the ones that put more limits, especially due to the high demand for degrees like medicine, veterinary science, science, and odontology.

15th January is the deadline for the rest of the degrees.

25th February you will have the option of adding more offers in case you haven’t been accepted in any of the requested choices.

5th May is the deadline to reply to the admission decision by the university.

6th May is the last day for the universities to decide whether they want to offer a placement to the students that had sent the application form on 15th January.

4th of June is the deadline for the students to reply to the offer sent by the universities by the 6th of May.

5th July will be the last date on which you will be able to add more options to your list in case of rejection of all the previous ones.

13th July is the deadline for universities to reply to applications received by 30th June.

20th July the students that have received an offer by 13th July must have sent the corresponding answer.

We must also take into account that everything required by the universities (personal statement, transcript of records, English language certificate) must be ready as soon as possible.

Degrees normally last 3 years

Placement Year

Many universities offer the possibility of making a Placement Year, which consists of doing an internship year between the second and third year, that would extend the duration of your studies one more year.

Associate’s Degree

There’s also the possibility of doing an Associate’s Degree, which consists of a specialization after the last years of High School. It takes only two years and is much more practical, but it hasn’t the same standing as a Bachelor’s Degree.

accomodation

There are many accommodation options for the students, both residents and foreigners. Residences on the university campus, shared flats or houses. Usually, you will have at your disposal an individual bedroom and shared bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining room. Some flats have a terrace, others are remodelled, all depends on your budget and its location.

All the options have their advantages and disadvantages, so the decision is based on the comfort and habits of each person. Living in a residence during the first months is advisable because it provides you with more personalized services and you will feel at home. Naturally, a residence has a higher cost than a shared flat, but it will all depend on the area where it is located and the type of bedroom

specific exams

First, you must take into account that more than 95% of British universities don’t request entrance examinations. This is because they give more importance to other things. However, the final years of High School average mark does count. If your mark is equal or superior to the mark required by the university, then your chances of being admitted are more than just high.

Something essential, if you want to be admitted to a UK university, is the Personal Statement or application letter. It is a text written in English where you will have to explain why you are the best candidate to gain admission to that faculty. You don’t know what to write? Don’t worry, we will advise you at all times.

All university degrees are in English, which means that many of them request some kind of language certification. They usually ask for a B2/C1 and accept all kinds of certificates: IELTS, TOEFL, FCE, CAE, etc. If you don’t have any of these, don’t worry, we offer English courses and access to different exams.

Something that adds up is the recommendation letter. You should request from your high school a recommendation letter based on your studies. It will have to emphasize what you excel at, your talents, and your qualities. This will be well received by the university you are applying to.

Lastly, some universities require a personal interview with the applicant, where you will have to defend face-to-face if you are apt to gain access to the study program. Here you must explain fluently in English. Once more, you don’t need to worry we will help you achieve your dream.

HOMOLOGATION OF THE ENGLISH QUALIFICATIONS

Depending on your country of origin, the process for obtaining the homologation will be different. Therefore, you can check the website of the government of your country or simply contact us, we will help you!

estimated annual cost

The cost varies taking into account factors such as the chosen degree, the type and place of accommodation and the scholarships and grants. Nonetheless, what influences the most is the chosen degree: degrees such as arts, engineering or health sector degrees are more expensive. Depending on whether it is public or private, the price increases or decreases, even though this is not always true. In fact, there are some public universities that due to the reputation achieved through their years of history, fix higher prices than other public universities.

We must also take into account that after the Brexit, the UK is no longer a member of the European Union. What makes fewer grants available for European students. Some universities have agreed to maintain the pre-Brexit prices for students that are going to study abroad during 2021, nonetheless, many others consider Europeans as international students.

Finally, the estimated price for each institution (without possible scholarships/grants) is:

Public universities: £ 9,250 (11.100€) for 2021 (minimum price set by the state) for all residents or citizens of the UK, and up to £ 40,000 (48.000€) for international students.

Private universities: up to £ 50,000 (60.000€) for every student

Apart from the university, we must take into account the cost of living which is around £ 1,000 (1.200€) per month.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

Unfortunately, unless you have a British passport or you haven’t lived for at least 3 years in the UK, you don’t have the right to apply for a student loan. However, there are many scholarships and grants for those who want to study in the UK.

After Brexit, many universities have broadened their lists of countries for the assignment of scholarships at an international level, including also the European Union or creating specific scholarships for it. Nonetheless, you can also aim for Spanish scholarships set aside for students that want to study in the UK for a year: the ones from the Santander Bank or the ones from IELTS.

We must take into account that if you have a student visa you will be able to work up to 20 weekly hours during your studies or work full-time during your holidays.

FUTURE JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Since September 2019 the return of the so-called “Graduate Route” has been announced in the UK. The “Graduate Route” is a visa that allows international studies to stay and search for a job in the UK two years after finishing there your studies. This will open many doors, as it allows the companies that have admitted you as an intern to hire you indefinitely.

Besides this, there is a lot of work, especially if your employment coincides with one that appears in the UK’s Shortage Occupation List. The unemployment rate is only 5.4% and the average salary of a recent graduate is £ 26,000 (21.100€), which allows you to cover the living costs, which are around £ 1,000 (1.200€) monthly.
